Nepal Film & Cultural Academy (NFCA)’s annual event Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF) is a member of the Belt & Road Film Festival Alliance (BRFFA). NIFF is one of the 31 institutions from 29 countries, and the only member from Nepal, allied under the Belt & Road Film Festival Alliance to promote cooperation for the development of film and culture. The alliance came into existence in 2018 during the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) held in June, and promotes mutual collaboration and cooperation between its member film institutions in the Belt & Road areas.
The Vision
Film, as an essential medium of cultural exchange among people of all countries, has long been a major channel of different civilizations to reach a mutual understanding. The inheritance, development and promotion of film culture require efforts from each relevant cultural organizations and film institutions around the world. Beyond all that, these organizations and institutions should strengthen exchanges and cooperation to reach a better development prospect and more practically, enrich the choices of film watching for the international audience. Thus, under the context of the Belt and Road Initiative, film institutions and festivals from 29 countries gathered at the Shanghai International Film Festival 2018, and agreed to establish a film cultural exchange and cooperation alliance, which aims to achieve the following goals in the upcoming years:
